The Social Studio/Hunter Gatherer Street Party Fashion Parade
This Friday we’re showcasing our recent collaboration with the Brotherhood of St Lawrence’s vintage label Hunter Gatherer for the Brunswick Street foot traffic with a parade, music and drinks.
Recycled vintage garments have been chosen by our designers from the Hunter Gather store and then reworked into new pieces with African influences.
All garments will be modelled by the Social Studio designers and friends. There will also be opportunity to buy the reworked pieces on the night.
The parade will be filmed by ABC Arts, so it would be great to see your handsome faces in the crowd.
Friday 12th March, 6 -7pm, 274 Brunswick St, Fitzroy (right beside the Hunter Gatherer shop)
Open Studio Day for the L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival Cultural Program
The Social Studio will be joining in on the LMFF’s Open Studio Day, where Melbournians can go ‘behind the seams’ and step into the workspaces of local creatives.
If you haven’t visited our studio yet, it’s a great chance to see our brilliant team of designers in full swing, walk through our recycled and convertible studio fit-out, and chat to our staff about our creative and community initiatives.
Our café will also be open, so make sure you mark us onto your Open Studio trail and stop by for a hello.
Sunday 21st March, 12- 3pm. Find us at 128 Smith Street Collingwood.
Poetry Reading
YarraNile Cultural Organisation will be holding a poetry reading at the Social Studio café on Sunday 21st March.
After the successful launch of *bespoken, the new lift-out in the local Sudanese newspaper The Migrant, the poetry reading will continue to celebrate and platform the creative voices of Melbourne’s multicultural community.
There is no set theme and anyone is welcome to take part, whether you’re a spoken-word champ or poetry novice.
Audience entry by gold coin donation.
Sunday 21st March, 12 - 3 pm, the Social Studio (out the back), 128 Smith Street, Collingwood.
Fitzroy Outdoor Cinema
Bend it Like Beckham will be screening at the premier Fitzroy Outdoor Cinema session, as well as short films made by the young people of Fitzroy.
Located at the Atherton Gardens Oval, the screen will bring residents from the Fitzroy housing estate and the wider community together for an evening of entertainment under the stars.
While waiting the sun to go down, there will be circus performances, music and food. The feature film will start at 8pm, as it gets dark.
Bring your picnic rugs & beanies and come find the Social Studio stall for a hot chai and snack as the screen lights up.
